It has been divided into four sub-series. Sub-series one contains Rajan's handwritten autobiography and reflections, with associated notes and documents. It contains audio-files containing recordings Rajan had created for his autobiography. Sub-series two contains handwritten draft of a book on India at 2014 as well as a prited copy. Sub-series three contains mostly drafts and printed copies of talks and addresses made by Rajan at several educational institutions across India as well as associated notes. Sub-series four contains a miscellaneuous set of writings by Rajan from personal reflections, personal essays, memoirs, poems etc.
Series two contains documents related to Department of Space (DOS) and its associated organisations - PRL, INCOSPAR, TERLS, SHAR, ISRO etc as well as material from Department of Science and Technology (DST). Sub-series one contains administrative documents related to Rajan's appointment and tenure at DOS as well as Rajan's own personal accounts reflecting on his tenure at ISRO, his resume and other notes.
Sub-series two contains letters sent to Rajan by colleagues, peers and administrators at ISRO and NASA.
Sub-series three contains circulars, reports, booklets, memorandums, cost assessments, project proposals etc created by Rajan and his peers and superiors at ISRO. A docket of files related to 'Chairman' are files which were in Satish Dhawan's custody which was later handed to Rajan and involves communication between the both of them as well as those relating to administration at ISRO.
Sub-series four contains a set of digital copies of photographs related to ISRO collected by Rajan.
Series three contains two sub-series. The entire series is dedicated to Rajan's work at Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC). Sub-series one contains material related to Rajan's appointment at TIFAC as well as documents generated as part od his administration of the organisation. Sub-series two contains letter to and from Rajan's colleagues and peers.
Series four contains material related to Confederation of Indian Industry, an organisation which Rajan was involved with. Most of the documents are printed copies of email correspondence between Rajan and his colleagues.
Series five contains adminstrative documents and correspondence kept by Rajan from his time working at the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Goverment of India.
Series six contains adminstrative documents and correspondence kept by Rajan when he was the Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Technical University.
Series seven contains adminstrative documents and correspondence kept by Rajan when he was Principal Scientific Advisor of Chief Minister of Goverment of Punjab.
Series eight contains proposals, minutes of meetings, legislation and correspondence kept by Rajan when he was associated with the setting up of Nalanda University in Bihar.
Series nine contains a docket of administrative documents related to National Board of Accrediation.
Series ten contains correspondence, notes and drafts, media clippings, writings related to A P J Abdul Kalam. Rajan was a close associate of Kalam's and has kept material related to Kalam, or produced while collaborating with Kalam.
Series eleven contains samples of different types of ephemera collected and kept by Rajan.
Series twelve contains samples of miscellaneous correspondence between Rajan and several friends, peers, political figures, administrators, writers and well-wishers.
