The collection has been arranged to reflect the different processes and phases of Shah's work. Most of the series does not contain any sub-series.

Series one containing correspondence has been arranged alphabetically and contains letters to Shah from friends and colleagues.

Series two contains scientific research and administration. It has been arranged chronologically. It maps Shah's foray into science and academics and her work in Theoretical Physics at IIT Bombay. Includes administrative documents from Shah's stint as an instructor at colleges in Mumbai.

Series three includes Shah's notes and notebooks which contain notes taken during conferences, personal reflections etc. It has been arranged chronologically.

Series four contains drafts and published copies of Shah's writing on various topics related to women's rights to their bodies and selves.

Series five contains material related to Women's rights movement in India. Shah was part of various organisations and has collected publications which have been included under sub-series 1. This includes newsletters, information booklets, reports and magazines published by women's rights organisations in India. It has been arranged chronologically.</dc:description><dc:description xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Chayanika Shah is a feminist and queer rights activist, who has been involved with the women’s movements in India for many years.  She is a physicist by training, but  works primarily as an activist and teacher.  Chayanika is part of the women’s rights movement in India and has campaigned, researched, taught and written extensively on population control measures, communalism, women’s rights to their bodies and sexuality. She has also taught courses on feminist science studies. She has been an active member of two collectives in Mumbai – Forum Against Oppression of Women and LABIA – A Queer Feminist LBT Collective. Her co-authored books include, ‘No Outlaws in the Gender Galaxy’, ‘Bharat Ki Chaap’ (a companion book for the documentary of the same name), and ‘We and Our Fertility: The Politics of Technological Intervention’.
