The Office is responsible for recruitment of new faculty. It reviews the performance of the scientists and faculty employed at NCBS and accordingly accords promotions. Drafting proposals for short-term and long-term plans of the institute and holding Statutory Committee Meetings of its members from time to time also is under the purview of the Office. NCBS has a tradition of a set of Annual Talks at the start of the calendar year. The programming of the Annual Talks is charted by The Office of Dean. In addition, there are various seminars, lectures and symposiums concerning the various disciplines at the institute governed by The Office of Dean. It also coordinates the visits of many scientists, visiting professors and speakers to the institute. The Office of the Dean plays a vital role in the matters regarding the faculty and the academics in the institute.
